HANOVER, N.H. (WCAX) – Hanover police said Gage Young, 22, of Lebanon, shot dead a man on the sidewalk in front of the Christian Science Reading Room on Friday night.

The Hanover police charged him with second degree aggression.
The victim, who is not affiliated with the college, is in a stable state.

The emergency teams responded to the first church of Christ, scientist shortly before 22 hours. A few hours later, other shots were fired in neighboring Lebanon.

"I heard a shot, strange enough, I did not know what it was," said Philipe Bennett, Dartmouth Senior.

Bennett was hanging out with friends in his apartment on School Street in Hanover on Friday night. Around 9:45 – they heard what looked like a shot.

"It's something that does not happen often in New Hampshire, especially in Dartmouth, so it was rather scary," Bennett said.

The College sent e-mails, texts and tweets, inviting students to stay inside. Hanover police investigated the scene and a 19-year-old man, unaffiliated with Dartmouth, was taken to the hospital.

About two hours later, gunshots were fired, this time in Lebanon. Rhonda Dowling says her daughter called 9-1-1.

"I said how much, and she said between 4 and 6 years … they were right one after the other … Boom boom boom," Dowling describes.

Lebanese police followed the tip and found a suspicious car in a nearby lot. The car took off towards Dartmouth.

"I think the person who was trying to escape climbed into the street without knowing that it was a dead end," said Jody Zimmermann.

The lawsuit is over in front of Zimmermann's house. Car debris scattered in the mulch and signs that a car almost crushed his mailbox. Police arrested Hector Correa, 17, and Gage Young, 22, in police custody after the accident.

Zimmermann says she was not concerned about the event until an officer told her what else was found.

"Another officer arrived and said that a firearm had been found, so I did not like that idea," Zimmermann said.

The head of the Hanover Police Department said the shooting, prosecution and car accident were all related. The investigation is continuing but the police believe that the shooting was an isolated incident and random.
