You may want to check that some of these products in your refrigerator – and what's in your driveway – present no potential hazards.

This week's food recalls included fresh chicken salads and wraps, as well as pre-made hamburgers sold at reputable grocers, as well as Jeep Wranglers for welding problems.

Among retailers, Hy-Vee, Whole Foods, Walmart, Trader Joe's and 7-Eleven recall products already manufactured and ready to eat because of the possible risk of listeria and salmonella. To date, no adverse effects related to the consumption of these products has been confirmed.

Mushrooms, corn and tomatoes lead to listeria and salmonella

Hy-Vee, grocer based in West Des Moines, Iowa recalled six meat and potato products due to possible contamination with salmonella and listeria, said the Food and Drug Administration. One of its suppliers, McCain Foods, recalled caramelized mushrooms and fire-roasted tomatoes, ingredients used in Hy-Vee products.

Here are the products that the grocer recalls from all his stores, for caution: Cowgirl chicken grills wrapped in Hy-Vee bacon, Hy-Vee fire-roasted tomatoes, spinach, baked mozzarella potato; Hy-Vee Cowgirl chicken grilling pie; Swiss mushroom and burger Hy-Vee Gourmet Steakhouse;
Hy-Vee Sliders Beef Mushroom & Switzerland; Hy-Vee Sliders Beef Mushroom & Switzerland.
All products have a "better if used before" date of October 22, 2018, or earlier.

Whole Foods was among several retailers involved in the recalls after a corn supplier earlier this week, recalled some shipments used in the manufacture of consumer-ready products sold in stores, according to the inspection and food safety department of the US Department of Agriculture.

Whole Foods recalled "Chicken Santa Fe Style Salad" weighing 9.75 ounces and bearing the words "Best Selling on the Day of 10/17/18 to 10/18/18", the 10-ounce bar " 365 by Whole Foods Market BBQ "Style" chicken chicken salad with sale dates from October 17 to October 25; six-pound kit containing a "BBQ Chicken Salad Kit with White Chicken" dated October 17 to October 22, and 8-ounce clear plastic wrappers of "365 By Whole Foods Market Chicken Fajita Salad" with dates from Oct. 17 to Oct. 20. All were manufactured Oct. 9 to Oct. 13 and were shipped to stores in California.

Whole Foods said the problem was uncovered on October 16 when the supplier of GH corn "Foods CA" in Sacramento, Calif., Informed the retailer that the corn used in making its ready-to-eat salads with chicken was recalled "due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella," the company said.

Trader Joe's recalled several products, including Trader Jose's Mexicali-inspired salad, Trader Joe's BBQ-flavored chicken salad and Trader Joe's Field Chopped Fresh Chicken Salad with Grilled Chicken Breast – also for listeria and salmonella problems with contaminated corn. The products carry the expiry date indicated on the labels from October 15 to October 15. 20 and have been sold in Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and New Mexico, the company said.

Walmart said that GHSE Foods of Green Cove Springs, Florida, recalled "MarketSet Fiesta Salad with Steak", salads sold in some Walmart stores in 15.25-ounce plastic shells, dated October 17 to October 15. 20, sold in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

7-Eleven recalled two different sizes (9.6 ounces and 11.2 ounces) of its "Southwestern Style Bacon Salad, 7-Eleven Bistro," produced on October 13 by Prime Deli Corp. of Lewisville, Texas. The salads, whose expiry date was October 16, were shipped to stores in Texas. The retailer learned of the problem on October 14, said the USDA.

Also recalled for possibly contaminated corn were "Chicken wrap at Southwestern Mary's Harvest with Rib Meat" with "Use Before", Oct. 15 to Oct. 15. 23, shipped to various stores in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Mary's Harvest Fresh Foods of Portland, Oregon, has also produced Jose Trader's Mexicali-inspired salad.

In a separate food recall, Taylor Farms Northwest of Kent, Washington, recalled the "Carnitas Bowl Pork", presented in 10-ounce clear plastic bowls, dated October 15 to October 15. 19, shipped to Oregon and Washington. The reason? Tomatoes supplied to Taylor Farms could potentially be contaminated with salmonella and listeria, says the USDA.

The USDA has not named the supplier of corn or tomatillos in the recalls. The recalls involved relatively small amounts, ranging from 217 pounds to 940 pounds of salads. Consumers are encouraged to discard the products or return them to the retailer for a refund.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, about 1,600 people contract listeriosis each year in the United States and about 260 die from it. The CDC estimates that Salmonella causes approximately 1.2 million illnesses, 23,000 hospitalizations and 450 deaths in the United States each year. Most infected people develop diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps within 12 to 72 hours.

Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider.

Drug Resistant Salmonella Epidemic Continues

The CDC has also updated the number of growing outbreaks of drug resistant salmonella from raw chicken. Ninety-two people in 29 states were infected during the outbreak that began in January, says the CDC.

Until now, no supplier of raw chicken products has been identified, officials said. Those who became ill reported purchasing different types of brands and chicken products.

The authorities have not advised consumers to stop eating properly cooked chicken or to stop the sale of raw chicken.

Jeep Wrangler remembers: faulty welding could cause crash

Welding problems, likely to cause a "crash without notice", prompt Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to recall about 18,000 Jeep Wrangler JL 2018 and 2019.

"Some of the above vehicles may have been built with a front track bar support weld located out of the seam, which could result in separation of the frame attachment", according to a recall notice dated 5 October and obtained by JL Wrangler Forums. "Separation of the front track bar support from the frame may result in reduced steering response, which may result in a vehicle accident without notice."

FCA said that shipments to customers regarding the recall would be broadcast next week. No accidents or injuries were reported, according to a spokesman for Fiat Chrysler, who said the defect would end up on 4%, or 720 vehicles of the recall campaign.

While this is not a reminder at this time, NHTSA has also begun to research why the electric gates of some Ford F-Series pickups may unexpectedly open during their journey.

The investigation involves thousands of F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks of the 2017 model year. Ford says it will cooperate with NHTSA and will quickly recall vehicles if the data indicates a safety problem.
