The UCF fans gathered in front of the ESPN National College Memory Mall game to try to show the Knights an elite fan base.
Check out live updates from the national college football preview show aired this morning from the heart of the UCF campus.
The hype leads to UCF # 11 with Cincinnati No. 24 at Spectrum Stadium. The sold-out contest will be broadcast nationally on ABC and will begin at 8 pm
The hosts gave the massive crowd rave reviews early on:
Better state
About 30 minutes after the show began, the GameDay team dedicated a segment to UCF, the best team in the state of Florida.
"It's indisputable, they are state champions," said Host Rece Davis of the Knights.
The group then evaluated the rest of the state teams. The group spent a lot of time discussing Miami's retreat this season.
"I think in Florida, the real question is what's wrong with Miami," Davis said.
Panelists Blake Bortles and McKenzie Milton could have changed the game for any team in the state.
The call of Heupel
UCF coach Josh Heupel largely avoided discussing the college football playoff rankings, but he tackled the issue during the GameDay.
Journalist Maria Taylor asked Heupel to defend the Knights' case before the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. He has answered:
"First of all, you look at the record of this conference in the six-petal new year games, 3-1 out of four that we had the opportunity to play. I think that speaks to the strength of this conference. I think if you look at the history of these players, you've managed to do it for a year and a half.
"Tonight, it's going to win a division title. At the same time, we have the opportunity to put our best foot forward all over the country and to claim if we are able to remain undefeated, you deserve to be able to earn it on the field. "
UCF fans roared approval behind him.
The huge crowd deployed creative signs, flashing them constantly in the background of the GameDay game and every time video cameras screened the entire crowd on Memory Mall.
