Liverpool Vs. Southampton: Red Cruises Win Best Start Award | Liverpool fc

Liverpool set a new club record of seven straight wins at the start of a season by training at a 3-0 win against Southampton on Saturday at Anfield.

The Reds took the lead with 10 minutes of play when Xherdan Shaqiri's shot deflected off Shane Long and shot at Wesley Hoedt and his own goal line.

Joel Matip then scored his first start of the season by scoring his first goal since last November by diverting a corner at the back of the net with his head.

Salah added the third goal of the match, registering at close range after Shaqiri's superb 25-meter free-kick crashed under the crossbar.

That meant Liverpool was back at the top of the Premier League standings, while Chelsea was not in action until Sunday at West Ham United, as his 2018-19 start was continuing.
