Jeremiah Upshaw, a year old, was born with a rare genetic abnormality. He has been at the Los Angeles Children's Hospital since Aug. 27 waiting for a bone marrow transplant that could save his life.
Jeremiah has been diagnosed as a very early Crohn's disease infection, but different in that it affects toddlers and is associated with immune disorders.
Since he was 6 months old, he has been to Valley Children's Hospital three times before being treated in Los Angeles.
Dr. Warolin of Bakersfield's Valley Children's Clinic treated Jeremiah in his early days and says it is one of the rarest cases he has ever seen.
"This is the first one I have ever seen," said Dr. Warolin. We hope the bone marrow will take care of that and heal her gut.
