The world's longest non-stop flight to the world has completed its first trip, when an 18-hour flight from Singapore landed at Newark Liberty International Airport on Friday morning.
Singapore Airlines flight 22 landed in New Jersey shortly before 5:30 am after 17 hours of flight, or 52 minutes, the airlines announced. The new Airbus A350-900ULR left Singapore at 23:35. local time Thursday night – Singapore has 12 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time).

The 161-passenger flight was full – 67 seats in business class and 94 seats in premium economy class.
The business seats are equipped with a pillow top mattress and firm and fluffy pillows. Bathrooms in the premium economy section are equipped with a hydration spray. Passengers will have 1,200 hours of film and television content, compared to 1,000 usually.
The new aircraft has higher ceilings, larger windows, extra wide body and lighting designed to reduce jet lag.
Singapore Airlines launched this unprecedented route in 2004, but canceled it nine years later due to rising fuel prices.
The Singapore-Newark route will run three times during the next week before the start of its daily service on October 18th. A Singapore-Los Angeles flight is scheduled for November 2nd. The airline already offers a service between San Francisco and Singapore.
