The spring fire in southern Colorado burned about 3,723 acres and forced hundreds of evacuations. There is no containment at this time and a Type 2 team is expected to resume the fight on Thursday.
The fire burns about 160 miles south of Denver in the Sangre of Cristo Mountains.
Authorities said Thursday morning that some structures were destroyed by the flames, but did not provide any immediate details. The Costilla County Sheriff's Office stated that he was assessing the damage and would update the evacuated residents.
The evacuation notice was sent Wednesday, the day of the fire, to nearly 400 phone numbers. Garland. About 350 primary and holiday homes in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains have been evacuated.
Warm, dry and windy weather has increased the danger of fire in most of Colorado as well as in Utah and parts of Arizona and Nevada.
