LOOK: Syracuse misspelled last name of Jim Boeheim's son on his jersey

Jim Boeheim has been the head coach at Syracuse for over four decades, but Syracuse – somehow, in a certain way! – misspelled his last name Thursday night.

How did you misspell his name since he does not wear a jersey? His son Buddy, a freshman in Syracuse, plays under his father. Buddy (obviously) has the same surname as his father, and he was misspelled on the back of his jersey when the Orange took the court at Madison Square Garden to face UConn.

Matt Norlander summed up the situation well:

Look, these things make happen. And be true: Boeheim is a legitimately difficult name to spell correctly – there is no logic "I before E before except C after" with Boeheim. But rest! The son of man who is synonymous with Syracuse One would think that basketball would have at least double control in the jerseys department before qualifying it for a televised match broadcast during prime time at MSG.

After this misstep in fashion, everything that Buddy Boeheim wears, from his top in jersey to his socks and sneakers, is probably under triple check by the team.
