LSU's Devin White launched against Miss. State for targeting

LSU linebacker Devin White was sent off for targeting late in the second half of the Tigers 19-3 win over Mississippi. With 5 LSUs dominating, White's ejection was not a big deal for the rest of the game against the Bulldogs # 22. That's really a big problem for the next LSU game.

Players who are targeted during the second half of a game must sit outside of the first half of their team's next game. With LSU turned off next week, the Tigers 'next game will be against Alabama, meaning one of the Tigers' top defensive players will miss the first half of the team's biggest game this season.

It can be argued that he was not really aiming either. Watch the shot.

White does not lead with his head. He has his arms in front of his head. His helmet happens to be in contact with Nick Fitzgerald's quarterback helmet in Mississippi. One of the facets of targeting is that a player leads with the crown of his helmet. It's hard to see how White did that here.

It's a tough break for LSU, which seemed legitimate against the Mississippi State on Saturday. He should be crazy at Baton Rouge when Tua Tagovailoa and Crimson Tide will be there on November 3rd. White will have to wait half an hour to participate in the action.
