According to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, the long rumor Boba Fett's independent film is "100% dead".

Via Dark Horizons, Sirius XM reporter Erick Weber tweeted The news says: "Kathleen Kennedy just confirmed that Boba Fett's movie is 100% dead, 100% centered on THE MANDALORIAN. #StarWars"

The Mandalorian is Jon Favreau's live-action Star Wars series, which will debut exclusively on Disney's upcoming streaming service. It will take place seven years after the events of Return of the Jedi and will follow a new warrior inspired by Jango and Boba Fett.

No additional information was provided on either project, but this is fully in line with Disney CEO Bob Iger's statement that, with respect to future Star Wars films, we can expect some slowdown.

Earlier this year, it was reported that James Mangold, the writer and director of Logan, was about to write and direct a standalone "Star Wars Story" based on the famous Boba bounty hunter Fett.

There are also rumors about an Obi-Wan Kenobi film, even though Ewan McGregor says that, at least as far as he is concerned, there are "no plans".

Although we may not have an independent film of Boba Fett at this stage, next year will see the launch of Star Wars: Episode IX on December 20, 2019.
