Mac Miller cried at Blue Slide Park in Pittsburg by thousands of fans

Mac Miller fans gathered in Pittsburgh to commemorate the rapper during his childhood years. The star died of an alleged overdose in her home in San Fernando Valley on Friday. He was 26 years old. A few days later, thousands of people attended a public wake at the Frick Park Blue Slide Playground. The site inspired the title of his first album, Blue Slide Park.

The local label, Nightfall Records, organized the event.

"We would like to bring the city together for this legendary icon. Mac deserves to be sent with an evening of celebration of his life, discussion of his difficulties and memories of his stories, "wrote the label in a Facebook message on Tuesday. "Most importantly for his iconic work that brought joy into the lives of all who listened."

"We welcome all artists to come and paint, create, draw, pay tribute to the art for this event," the label added.

At the vigil, artists painted portraits of the late rapper, DJs played his music and people placed candles and souvenirs of the Pittsburgh Steelers around the park.

According to CBS Pittsburgh, the park also received a new coat of paint, courtesy of Pittsburgh Public Works. Some participants at the vigil signed a petition to change the name of the playground to Mac Miller Blue Slide Park.

Miller's grandmother, Marcia Weiss, was also present and gave a speech thanking the crowd for helping to commemorate her grandson.

"So many wonderful young people have come here to honor them. I am so proud and so happy, "Weiss told CBS at the memorial.

"The pain will be there forever. It was such a big part of my life, "she continued. "There are so many people who liked it and enjoyed its music, hopefully they will continue to enjoy life."

Miller's mother and brother are expected to return to Pittsburgh, California, the news agency reported.

Miller, whose real name is Malcolm James McCormick, was deemed insensitive in his home in San Fernando Valley on Friday. He was pronounced dead at the scene of a drug overdose. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, her cause of death is still unknown. Currently, Miller's death certificate reads "deferred".
