Fans and other artists flocked to Twitter to share their grief over the death of Mac Miller. The rap star, aged 26, died Friday of an apparent overdose at the age of 26, confirms PEOPLE. TMZ was the first to report.

Miller – born Malcolm James McCormick – was found dead in his home in the San Fernando Valley around noon local time. He has struggled with addiction issues in recent months, particularly after his separation from longtime girlfriend Ariana Grande. In May, he was arrested for impaired driving and charging.

"I made a stupid mistake," Miller said in an interview with Beats 1 host Zayn Lowe in July. "I am a human being. [I] leads to the drunk house. But it was the best thing that could have happened. … I needed that. I needed to meet this light post and literally, everything stops.
