The city of Pittsburgh met on Tuesday, September 11 to remember Mac Miller at the place where he lit a national light, Frick Park. the 26-year-old rapper dead Friday, September 7, at his home in Los Angeles, an apparent overdose.
Four days later, thousands of people gathered to pay tribute to the Swimming rapper with candles, flowers and souvenirs from the Pittsburgh Steelers. In one of the most heartfelt moments of the evening, Miller's grandmother, Marcia Weiss, thanked the young rapper's fans for supporting their hero.
"Everyone would be so excited," said Weiss. "He would have liked to be here and I would like him to be there. He loves you all, he loves Pittsburgh and everything you did for him. Thank you very much for everyone here. You are wonderful and we love you. "

The first Mac Miller album, Blue Slide Park, was named after the place where he spent much of his childhood. In one Interview of 2011 with Hard Knock TVMiller described how Frick Park influenced the creation of his album.
"Blue Slide Park it's life that you will go crazy in life, you become a great mogul, you go out and you do everything you do in life and you go home and there is always the same park, "he said. Explain. "They can add jungle gyms, they could add what they add to the park to renovate, make it new, but as the slide will still be blue."
Before the vigil, the Pittsburgh Public Works Parks Division gave the iconic blue slide a new coat of paint in the honor of Mac.
