Macron claims to be vigilant in enforcing the ceasefire in Syria

ISTANBUL (Reuters) – French President Emmanuel Macron said on Saturday that the international community would ensure that Russia and Turkey abide by a negotiated deal to create a demilitarized zone in the Syrian Arab Republic. Idlib.

"We will all be extremely vigilant in ensuring that these commitments are respected and that the ceasefire is stable and sustainable," he told reporters after a four-way summit in Syria with Turkish, Russian and German leaders.

Macron also said that any military offensive by the regime of President Bashar al-Assad and his allies would have "unacceptable consequences for security and humanitarian aid".
