The cities of Los Angeles and Boston were fighting in Game 5 of the world series Sunday night – but this is not the first time that the two sports cities dominate the sport.
In the 1980s, the Lakers and Celtics were grappling with a rivalry that finally ushered in the heyday of the NBA – highlighted by Earvin's "Magic" Johnson and Larry Bird. A few decades later, the two men formed a unique friendship beyond their competitive means. They used this link to create an introductory video before the Dodgers-Red Sox match:

Bird has spent his entire 13 season career with the Celtics, earning 12 star selections and a rookie honor of the year. Johnson's basketball resume is equally impressive: he spent 13 seasons with the Lakers while winning 12 spots in the all-star rankings as well as three awards for being the most valuable player.
The two were laughing and Johnson, a co-owner of the Dodgers, reminded us that they were meeting again. They clashed at the NCAA championship game in 1979 and when it was time to play in the NBA, they were enlisted in both teams that had a huge rivalry.
I am happy to see that they are hearing well enough to create a fun segment.
