A six-week vaccination campaign against measles and rubella for children aged 9 months to 15 years will begin Tuesday in Maharashtra, said state health minister Deepak Sawant.
He informed that 3.38 crore children would be covered by the campaign and that MRI vaccines would be provided free of charge in government hospitals and clinics.
A 2016 report stated that 49,000 children would die from measles in the country every year, including 8,000 to 100,000 in Maharashtra.
