A Maine teacher and a mother of two children disappeared from her home late Sunday or early Monday and her husband stated that he had woken up to find out. His phone, car and keys were left at home in a rural area of North Yarmouth, confirms PEOPLE.
The authorities were asked if they suspected a crime in the mysterious disappearance of 47-year-old teacher Kristin Westra of Chebeague Island School Elementary School, Capt. Scott Stewart, Cumberland County Sheriff, told PEOPLE, "We do not want to go that way. Usually, we would have found it now.
"There are many things we do not know," says Stewart. "Usually, we will have a better idea to guide us in one direction or another, but unfortunately, for the moment, we can not exclude one avenue as opposed to another."
Jay Westra, Kristin's husband, said he saw his wife for the last time around 8 pm Sunday, when the two men went to bed at home, who sit on a wooded lot along the home of Lufkin Road in North Yarmouth, about 14 km north of Portland, according to the authorities.
When Jay woke up the next morning, Kristin could not be found, police said.
"It's unclear whether she has a vehicle or why it would be missing," said the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office in a missing alert.
The authorities also do not know when Kristin left home, what clothes she was wearing, where she was heading, why, or if she was wearing shoes.
Capt Stewart said, "We do not have a lot of problems, that's the problem."

The "complicated excavation" of the surrounding area, which is forested with dense undergrowth, was also hampered by a "very bad weather" on Tuesday, Stewart said.
About 70 people – including members of the Maine State Police and civilians from the Maine Search and Rescue Association assisted by trained dogs – have traveled about 2 miles around Kristin's house since her Husband went missing Monday around 9am.
Although the family has neighbors, the houses are several hundred meters apart, says Scott.
Kristin's brother, Eric Rohrbach, said that she had no history of mental illness and that she was not taking any medication that might have altered her behavior, although the authorities have put forward a theory that she may not have thought well and did not think she should flee her home, reports the Portland Press Herald.

"It's incredibly surreal. It's something of a nightmare, "said Rohrbach. "It's a horrible situation to think that she is immobilized somewhere in the woods. But there is a huge party looking for him.
Her sister – who has a 9-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son-in-law – recently faced the twin stresses of remodeling and renovation in her school and at home.
"When she comes home, [they] have no place to relax, "said Rohrbach at Herald Press. "They were like eating in the garage. Kristin is someone who likes to go home and curl up with a book, and she could not do it. "

Kristin had plans with friends and a doctor's appointment scheduled for Monday, said her brother. But her husband told Rorbach that she was restless while trying to sleep Sunday night, Rorbach said.
The police assume that she just went out of her home.
"It was raining and she left without her keys, without her car, without her phone. And we think she was wearing flip flops, "said Rohrbach, according to the Herald Press. "She does a lot of yoga and running, but she does not do it at this time of night. And if she did, Kristin I know would have told Jay or brought her her phone.
Kristin is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. She has brown hair and eyes.
