A desperate search for a primary school teacher in Maine, missing since Sunday, has so far generated more questions than clues.

Kristin Westra, 47, of North Yarmouth, was last seen at home by her husband, Jay Westra, said officials from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Jay Westra said he woke up Monday morning with his wife untraceable, while his vehicle, mobile phone and keys were still in the house, police said. Westra then went to the fire station to report his disappearance, according to the Portland Press Herald.

It was "too early" to determine whether Kristin Westra's disappearance was suspect, Lieutenant Mark Holmquist said on Tuesday. Several detectives from the sheriff's office and the state police spent the day looking for tips, interviewing family members and friends, and investigating the woman's life, the newspaper reported.

Westra's research was "tentative at this point, based on information that has come to us," said Holmquist. Due to the mild weather and the information, the authorities have not revealed detectives who said the searches could not continue Wednesday.

Eric Rohrbach, Westra's brother, told ABC News that his sister would be the "last person to do something like this". history of mental health problems or sleeping pills.

"It's incredibly surreal. It's something of a nightmare, "Rohrbach told the newspaper. "It's a horrible situation to think that she is immobilized somewhere in the woods. But there is a huge party looking for him.

Rohrbach said that Westra was working early, but that she would not leave without warning anyone would not do it. He added that she did not plan to leave home early Monday, but that she had a doctor's appointment and was going to spend time with her friends later that day.

He added that his sister was experiencing stress at home and following a reshuffle at Chebeague Island School, where she teaches. Rohrbach said her husband had told him that Westra was having trouble sleeping the night of his disappearance, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Westra is described as a woman with brown hair and brown eyes weighing about 140 pounds and weighing between 5 and 10 years. We did not know what she was wearing when she disappeared. She has two children – a 9-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old son-in-law.
