Warnings of winter storm and blizzard of November 25, 2018

ST. LOUIS, MB – A major winter storm will hit part of the Midwest Sunday. Heavy snowfall will cover parts of southeastern Nebraska, northeastern Kansas, southern Iowa, northern Missouri and northwestern Illinois, some reaching 10 inches or more. The snow will be accompanied by winds up to 45 mph, which will create dangerous whiteout conditions on roads and highways. Traveling is not advisable.

For the Saint-Louis region, this storm will result in strong winds and decreasing temperatures, but little snow. Rain showers move around noon when wind speeds begin to rise and temperatures begin to drop. The rain will become light as it blows from the wind and snow showers on Sunday night. Wind gusts in the evening will be 25 to 30 mph. Only small accumulations of snow are expected, mainly on the grass and cars.

The only exception to this rule is Montgomery County, Pike County, Missouri, and Pike and Greene County, in northern Illinois, where it is possible to make about one inch of snow. These counties are at the edge of thick snow that will further affect communities in the north.

It is only lightly snowing around midnight and we leave for Monday. Much, much colder with wind chills in the teens on Monday. It is very cold until Wednesday.
