A man was shot Sunday afternoon at a Hmong festival at Como Regional Park in St. Paul
Shooting took place near several concession stands and the park's swimming pool. Como during the Hmong Freedom Festival
Skylar Suwannakood, 17, said he heard four or five shots and saw several young men running in the area.
The Suwannakood family runs the Lao Street Food booth closest to the shooting, selling sticky bamboo, sugar cane juice and pancakes. "On the second shot, everyone noticed that it was a gun, so they took off," said her sister, Savannah Suwannakood, 12.
The man was shot shortly after 16:30. He was taken to the St. Paul Regional Hospital, where he died, police spokesman Steve Linders said.
No injuries were reported. At 6 pm, no one had been arrested.
After the shooting, four poolside food stalls were stuck behind the yellow ribbon. Davina Suwannakood, Skylar and Savannah's mother, said the guests were coming back after things calmed down.
"I think the ones who were hurt the most are those there," she said. , showing the four empty cabins behind the yellow police strip.
