Manchester City vs. Lyon, recap: Cityzens upset at home in first game of Champions League

Manchester City is considered one of the favorites to win the Champions League, and while this remains true, the team did not live up to the wave on Wednesday. City suffered a 2-1 defeat against Lyon at home in what was undoubtedly the biggest surprise of the first day.

It is a match where the lack of visibility of the city cost the team three points, giving Lyon two great chances to capitalize. The first came from Maxwel Cornet, who finished with a nice shot in the box after Fabian Delph's 26-minute absence. Viewing:

Nabil Fekir put the ball in the right place but was lucky that the English defender could not be touched, Cornet doing the rest.

Then, 17 minutes later, Fekir put pressure on the City midfielder, won the ball from his team and scored a brilliant goal with the goal in the 43rd minute:

Some mediocre stuff from City, but there were still opportunities to get into it. While Pep Guardiola was on the sideline, Mikel Arteta fell flat on his first audition. Anthony Lopes made big saves for the visitors, but City fans have plenty to be optimistic about. The team played pretty well in attack, the score was just right, which happens to the best teams. Creativity was there for most of the match and, with the drawing of Hoffenheim and Shakhtar Donetsk, City is just in one point and will be favored to win his remaining matches.

Not a good start, but there is still a lot to do.
