Time for Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho may be short after the Reds imposed penalties for Tuesday's draw against Derby County. Manchester United are seventh in the Premier League standings with very strong tensions between the beleaguered manager and his players.
This was clear during Wednesday's training.
Mourinho had stripped Frenchman Paul Pogba of his captaincy this week, but Pogba did not seem to be bothered by the demotion when he arrived at training. Pogba smiled and gave high-fives, but all that changed when Mourinho said something to Pogba.
You can basically determine the exact moment when the day of Pogba was destroyed.
Mourinho walked away, still making remarks, and Pogba followed Mourinho to speak. We can not hear exactly what was said, but we know that the conversation was not friendly.
After the training, Pogba responded with an encrypted message to his Instagram story.
Mourinho insisted on Tuesday that there was no fallout between the two. He said via Express:
"The only truth is that I made Paul's decision to no longer be the second captain. But no fallout. No problems at all. The same person who decides that Paul is no longer the second captain was exactly the same person who decides that Paul was the second captain, myself.
"I am the manager, I can make these decisions, no fallout at all, no problems, just a decision that I do not have to explain."
Wednesday's training conversation suggested the opposite.
