Steve Yzerman resigned from his position as General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, the same week he is scheduled to open the training camp. Yzerman, 53, will stay with the Lightning in an advisory role with assistant Julien BriseBois as GM.
The Lightning has reached the Eastern Conference final in three of the last four seasons and reached the Stanley Cup final in 2015.

April 20, 2011: Yzerman is a finalist for the GM title of the year after Lightning finishes with 103 points (46-25-11), second in the Southeast Division.
May 2011: The Lightning reaches the Eastern Conference finals in Yzerman 's first season as general manager. They lose to the Boston Bruins in seven games.
June 25, 2011: Lightning select before Nikita Kucherov in the second round (# 58) of the 2011 NHL draft.
