A manhunt is underway for a Tennessee fugitive suspected of having killed two people over the last two weeks, one in an inflamed house invasion and another in a carjack
Kirby Gene Wallace, 53, is believed to have killed a man who was not identified Monday morning and stole this man's van, according to Sheriff John Fuson of Montgomery County. .
Wallace allegedly killed a person before taking off in the truck, which was later found. He is thought to have continued on foot, said Fuson.
Wallace is also suspected of being responsible for a couple's attack in Indian Mound, Tennesse, on Sept. 22, according to NBC News affiliate WSMV.
Brenda Smith and her husband were returning home after church when police announced that they had entered Wallace robbing their homes, WSMV reported.
Wallace reportedly linked the couple and set the house on fire, killing Smith, 63, according to WSMV. The husband, identified by the Tennessean as Teddy Smith, was able to escape with life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. It has not been identified.
At a press conference Monday, police said Wallace would be armed and dangerous.
He is wanted for first degree murder, murder, attempted murder, arson, including aggravated kidnapping, robbery and aggravated burglary, among other things, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
It has also been added to the list of "Ten most wanted" TBI. The police have laid out a perimeter in the area where, according to them, Wallace is located, and escorts residents inside this perimeter to their homes, according to a publication on Facebook.
Police said that they had continued their search until Tuesday morning.
