Map of University Football Empires, Week 11: March in Alabama and the State of Iowa (!)

Welcome to the 11th week of the 2018 University Football Empires map. Here are the rules:

To start the season, each FBS team had control of its surrounding territory. Each game that involves one or two teams with one territory gives the overall winner. The results continue from week to week, so teams are still trying to take back or expand their lands. For more detailed rules, see the explanations for week 1.

Here is the updated map for 2018 after week 11, with notes to follow.

• Alabama posted its second shutout game in a row and wiped out the state of Mississippi, taking control of Starkville, Manhattan (Kansas), Lexington, Gainesville, Louisiana Lafayette and central Michigan.
• The state of Iowa fought against Baylor and added to his empire the state of Colorado, Oklahoma and several Maryland territories.
• The state of Ohio defeated the state of Michigan and returned home, as well as all the land lost during the Purdue match.
• In a battle against independent teams, BYU defeated UMass, taking the lead of UAB Minutemen.
• Stony Brook defeated Delaware, capturing Temple's homeland, which was bypassed from the FCS.

Next week!

• Iowa State and Texas will fight to keep their Big 12 title hopes alive and, more importantly, will also play for all the Big 12's own pitches.
• Our Lady will seek to keep her unbeaten season alive, as well as all the land gathered in a somewhat surprising match in the top 15 against Syracuse.
• UCF will face its first top 25 of the season, Cincinnati, which hopes to show College GameDay and the nation that deserves a New Year's position.

• The UAB, an army that has only relaunched for two years, will call on Texas A & M to protect its lands and seek its first ranking in the AP Top 25.

• The Army will host its second consecutive FCS team this week, but it will likely be more difficult. Colgate scores 9-0 with a 223-26 differential.

We are also following a version of this map that began in 2017 and has been around for several years.

• On the historical map, the state of Iowa defeated Baylor and won the homelands of UAB and Coastal Carolina.
• Ohio State has spent the last three weeks without a presence on the historic map. That came to an end this week when the Buckeyes defeated the state of Michigan and regained the empire they had lost to Purdue.

Week 12 – Historical map games sorted by probability of land transfer

• SMU vs. Memphis: Memphis enters as favorite, but SMU has improved dramatically over the season, coaching Cincinnati in overtime and defeating Houston. Both are also looking to keep their American title hope alive.
• State of Iowa vs. Texas: Both players are tied for third place in the Big 12. The winner will stay alive in the race for the Big 12 and the loser will be eliminated.
• UCF against Cincinnati: the first two in the American standings face for the whole continent, the lead in the AAC and the lead in the race instead of the Group of 5 New Year.
• Our Lady against Syracuse: Syracuse will seek to destroy the hopes of title of Our Lady and to appear in the top 10 also.
• Ohio State vs. Maryland: Maryland will look for a good time in a one-year disaster with a setback on the state of Ohio, a defeat that would eliminate the Ohio State playoffs.
• Georgia vs. UMass: If UMass wins this match, it will become one of the biggest setbacks in history.
• State of North Dakota vs. Southern Illinois: Southern Illinois has two wins this season. The state of North Dakota has won 16 straight games and 24 of their last 25 games. Southern Illinois is not lucky, to say the least.
• Alabama vs. The Citadel: The Citadel has already beaten a SEC team, since it defeated South Carolina in 2015. That Citadel team however had 8-3 and that of South Carolina 3-8 . This season is a different story. This Citadelle team is comprised of 4-5 and this Alabama team is one of the best teams of all time. In simple terms, it's a surprise that even 2007 could not have given us.
