The San Jose Sharks took a big bite in the Vancouver Canucks Friday night with a 4-0 win that pushed the Canadian team's losing streak to seven games.

But a Canucks member might have been right.

Sharks defender Marc Edward Vlasic said after the game that Canucks forward Antoine Roussel had bitten him during a match. showed a mark to a reporter on his left hand.

The video shows that Vlasic reacts angrily while Roussel and he mutually jostled each other at the last minute of the match. Roussel was subjected to cross-checks and less severe criminal penalties, as well as misconduct of 10 minutes to close his night of five penalties.

A slow-motion close-up of the video shows Vlasic's hand rubbing Roussel's ear as the officials on the ice tried to separate them and that Roussel seemed to bite until Vlasic's hand finished close to the mouth.

The NHL announced Saturday that it would impose a $ 5,000 fine on Mr. Roussel, who has a complementary discipline history.

He was suspended for two games in February 2015 for a Boston Bruins control check and was fined $ 5,376 earlier this season for throwing a shot at a Sharks player.

Roussel, who began his career with the Dallas Stars, has 871 career penalty minutes in 434 games. He signed a $ 12 million four-year contract with Vancouver during the off-season.

Roussel is not the first Canucks player to be accused of biting anyone. Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron said Alex Burrows of Vancouver was squeezed in the 2011 Stanley Cup final.

The NHL has not suspended Burrows.
