It's fighting night in Las Vegas and apparently also in Cleveland.
The Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers met on Saturday in a preparatory game for last year's Eastern Conference finals. Even if LeBron James is gone, the animosity is not there.
Scuffle begins with J.R. Smith
Things got heated late in the first quarter when Cavaliers' guard, JR Smith, got entangled in the front of the Celtics, Aron Baynes, while he was fighting to position himself in the painting. The two elbows locked and throwing one on the other, prompting the Celtics' guard, Marcus Smart, to get involved.
From there, chaos reigned, the NBA style.
Marcus Smart could not resist
Smith earned technical training for his role in the kerfuffle, while Smart was tossed, presumably to be out of nowhere to push Smith to the back of the head.
Strengths include smiling and saving Smith after pretending to want to fight, Smart taking a stand and pausing until there are people between him and Smith and Jayson Tatum and Terry Rozier with the withdrawal of Smart for their teammate to be spared.
After the match, Smart, who became an NBA tradition, challenged Smith to "meet me in the back."

"All this on the ground, we can handle that off the field," said Smart. "I'm not with that. It's on my mom. May she rest in peace. No punk here.
"J.R. know where I am. Everyone knows where I am. "
Smith noticed Smart's challenge and took his response on Twitter.
You're really mad !!! ??????

In the end, it was an NBA fight that was, well, an NBA fight. There were a lot of jaws, a lot of postures and a bit of jostling. But no one wanted to tackle the penalties that would be imposed if one exchanged blows against the basketball court.
If either player really wants to solve the problem in the field, we will surely know.
