Mark Ruffalo promoting the first Avengers movie in April 2012

Mark Ruffalo sent the Avengers fans into the crisis in one tweet.

The actor, who plays Hulk in the Avengers movies, has publicly asked TV host Jimmy Fallon to "clip off my spoiler from the show," hours before his interview airs.

The highly anticipated Avengers 4 is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who keep this new title in secret closely.

And they quickly tweeted the 50-year-old actor: "You're fired."

But fans of the Marvel franchise would have been disappointed if they were listening Friday night, expecting a big revelation.

The name of the new film was introduced by Mark Ruffalo in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, but the name of the new movie was issued.

Host Jimmy Fallon asks the actor, "I do not want you to have any problems with the studio or Marvel, but maybe you could just [tell us] the title?"

The actor responds: "Okay, I think I can probably tell you, I think it already exists."

The titles of the films of the Marvel Universe were announced years in advance. But fans have been left in the dark this time and still do not know the name of the fourth Avengers movie, due out in April 2019.

In September, the Russo brothers added to the hype by posting a picture on Instagram with the caption "Look hard …". This prompted fans to look for clues for the new name on the photo.

Given the huge wait, it is unlikely that Mark Ruffalo does not know exactly what he was doing. But unlike most other cast members, it has the shape of unintentionally revealing spoilers.

"I've somehow, in the past, abandoned things, spoilers," he told Jimmy Fallon. "Basically, I messed up the end of Avengers: Infinity War with Don Cheadle, who will no longer be pressing me, Marvel has put me under surveillance."

He was talking about his interview with Good Morning America in July 2017, where Ruffalo told the interviewer: "Wait to see this one, half … everyone dies."

When he sees the reaction, the actor replies, "It's not everyone." Can we go back? "Am I in trouble? Is Barry going to be angry?"

But Mark Ruffalo is not the only one with a spoiler problem. Tom Holland, actor of Spider-Man, is another actor that Marvel must watch.

In an Instagram video released earlier this year, Tom was able to give fans the name of the new movie Spider-Man, as well as a key piece of the plot of the recently released Avengers: Infinity War movie.

Holland's reputation is such that its co-starred Benedict Cumberbatch was circled to keep him under control during press interviews.

He told Ali Plumb everything about Radio 1.
