Markelle Fultz suffering from an apparent wrist injury

After deciding not to play a shoulder specialist, Philadelphia 76ers goaltender Markelle Fultz is also battling a wrist injury, according to The Athletic.

Fultz suffers from an apparent injury to his right wrist, which sometimes prevented him from shooting or holding the ball, according to The Athletic.

The website also reported that sources said Fultz "would prefer a fresh start with a new team". However, Fultz's agent, Raymond Brothers, told Wednesday's Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) that he had "told anyone" that Fultz wanted to be traded.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Fultz would not participate in any training or game of the Sixers until he met a specialist in the shoulder next week. Brothers would have called for Fultz to be out of business.

Sixers coach Brett Brown said Tuesday that he was surprised to learn that Fultz needed to see a specialist, but the team supports his decision.

Fultz was diagnosed with scapular muscle imbalance at the shooting shoulder last season and received a cortisone injection last October to help manage the discomfort. He began experiencing physical problems before being recruited in 2017, but it is unclear when Fultz's wrist injury began or whether it is related to his scapular imbalance, reports The Athletic.

Fultz missed 68 games last season with a shoulder injury after being ranked first overall in the repechage. The outstanding former player at the University of Washington has played 19 games since the start of the season and started in 15. Despite this, Fultz's shooting problems have contributed to a fluctuation in the number of minutes of match. He played seven minutes on the ground in Philadelphia's victory over the Suns on Monday. Fultz draws 41.9% of the field and 28.6% of three.

The 12-7 Sixers will likely turn to T.J. McConnell in the absence of Fultz.
