The Marlins have made a leap forward in their quest for the coveted Cuban hopeful, Victor Victor Mesa, by exchanging reliever Kyle Barraclough on Wednesday at the Washington Nationals for cash in the international bonus pool.
The Marlins can use that money to try to sign the 22-year-old Mesa's brother, Victor Mesa Jr., and pitcher Sandy Gaston. The three men worked Friday at Marlins Park in front of scouts for the 30 major leagues.
