MARCH, Pa. – A school bus carrying children has crossed a slope on Mars and the police are on the scene.

4:48 p.m. The Mars Superintendent told Channel 11 that six children had been transported to a hospital with minor injuries, including bumps and bruises.

He said that they want to make sure that they have no head injuries.

3:47 p.m. The School District of Mars issued the following statement:

School Bus No. 4 in the Mars School District was involved in a single vehicle accident on Highway 228 around 3 pm today (Monday, September 24).

According to the district procedure, 911 was immediately called and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. All students are examined by emergency medical staff. Some minor injuries have been reported.

The district communicates directly with the parents of all students who were in the bus at the time of the accident. Additional information will be provided as soon as it is available.

3:42 p.m. Channel 11 has confirmed the college and high school bus services of Mars Area School District.

3:26 p.m.: Several injuries have been reported. Amy Marcinkiewicz and Channel 11's Gabriella DeLuca are on hand to determine the cause of the accident and the extent of the injuries.

Channel 11 confirmed that this had occurred in a construction area on Highway 228 between the CVS and Springfield Grill. This area of ​​the road is now closed.

The Cranberry Township Police Department has just arrived at the scene.
