MARSHFIELD, Mass – Marshfield police are looking for a suspect after a woman was shot dead Monday night, reports Boston CBS. Police said the suspect, 47-year-old Allen Warner, was a person interested in the death of his wife.
Police do not say how the woman died, waiting for an autopsy, but will say that a gun or rifle was involved.
The Marshfield police had locked up a large part of the city on Monday night after the incident, but now she thinks Warner is no longer in the area.
"Please, stay away from the area and stay inside and lock your doors," said Marshfield police. Twitter and Facebook.
State Police, K9 units and the Air Wing are all part of the search.
Just before 6:00 pm On Monday night, Marshfield Police received a 911 call from a woman who said Warner, her future ex-husband, was chasing her in a car. When the officers intervened in the area of 758 Main Street, they found the woman with facial injuries. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
"State police are asking the public for help in searching for Mr. Warner," said Plymouth County Attorney Timothy Cruz. "It must be considered armed and dangerous, if someone comes into contact with it, please call 911 immediately, do not approach it."
The shooting occurred just down the road from Marshfield High School, where several sports teams, including the Duxbury women's volleyball team, were training.
The Marshfield football team was brought inside during the search. According to footballer Peter Suzio, coaches and police kept them informed of what was going on outside. "Everyone was able to stay calm and we were able to get through," said Suzio.
The police escorted all students out of school around 8:30 pm.
