Martavis Bryant close to deal with Oakland Raiders

The odd relationship between the Oakland Raiders and the big player Martavis Bryant took another strange turn on Tuesday.

The Raiders and Bryant enter into a one-year deal that will bring him to The Bay, said Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, by source. Bryant should also play this week in Denver against the Broncos, by Pelissero.

Bryant's return to Oakland just 10 days after his surprising release is definitely a scratcher. The Raiders apparently abandoned Bryant, who traded a third-round pick in the 2018 draft as he faced another suspension of the league, which would be his third in four seasons.

So, if the Raiders did not want to deal with the uncertainty surrounding Bryant just a week and a half ago, what brought Jon Gruden and Co. to change their minds? Perhaps Oakland's poor performance in Monday's Rams defeat led them to reconsider a talent as tempting as Bryant.

The Raiders only collected 13 points on Monday night and saw Amari Cooper's duo Jordy Nelson teaming up for a total of four passes for 32 yards while Derek Carr threw three interceptions at zero.

Bryant will definitely give Carr a deep potential threat in the pass game, but there are still plenty of question marks. Bryant is still facing a potential suspension, by Pelissero, and it's not as if he was lighting up the world during his limited time in Oakland this summer.

We'll see what kind of impact – and for how long – Bryant will start this Sunday. To say the least, the Gruden era in Oakland has had an interesting start.
