Marvel’s Falcon, Bucky Barnes to receive miniseries on streaming service

Loki and Scarlet Witch aren’t alone, another set of Marvel heroes get their own show on Disney Play but Falcon and Bucky will team up in a miniseries.

The gift that keeps on giving is Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whether it’s TV, streaming services, or movies, there isn’t a place where you can’t a MCU fix. Despite Netflix breaking the hearts of millions of fans, Disney has no plans of slowing down. In fact, earlier this week Disney announced they had bigger and better plans for their streaming service. This was after reports suggested Nick Fury would get his own miniseries.

However, we now have an idea what those bigger and better plans are. According to Variety, Malcolm Spellman will write a Falcon and Bucky miniseries for Disney’s streaming service.

“Malcolm Spellman has been tapped to write a series featuring the two superheroes, which is currently in development at the streamer. It is the first of the proposed Marvel limited series to find a writer.”

The news comes a little over a month after Disney announced a Loki and Scarlet Witch miniseries.  However, although there’s a possibility of a crossover, both Loki and Scarlet Witch will receive their own series, respectively.

Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie, is an MCU gem who has the potential to the mantle as next Captain America. While Bucky, played by Sebastian Stan burst onto the big screen in the instant classic Captain America: Winter Soldier. Sebastian’s portrayal captured fans attention and hearts and fans clamored for more. Kevin Feige understood that as evident by Bucky’s welcomed appearance in the end credit scenes of Black Panther.

Together, Falcon and Bucky are money and the dynamic is always interesting. Fans got a taste of what to expect in Captain America: Civil War car scene. With Spellman, who wrote for Fox’s Empire on writing duties, we anticipate an epic series. There’s bound to be a great combination of drama and comedy in what will likely feel like a buddy cop comedy. It’ll be interesting to see when their adventures take place with both heroes falling victim to the snap.

It likely means we’ll see them team up in an arc that’s post-Avengers 4. Will that mean Falcon as Captain America or Bucky as Winter Soldier or White Wolf? It doesn’t really matter, does it?

With yet another show added to its slate, Disney Play already has my money. I’m sure other Marvel fans would agree. This is still just one of many expected shows to hit the streaming service.
