Marvel's Iron fist will not be a third season. Disney confirmed the cancellation of the show, but hinted that it might not be the end of the trip for the superhero.

Iron fist is part of a shared universe between Marvel and Netflix, alongside Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The punisher. He follows billionaire Danny Rand (Finn Jones), who reappears after disappearing fifteen years ago, and who trained as a monk to become a martial arts master known as the Immortal Iron Fist. The series has just released its second season on Netflix in September and, paired with a new showrunner, has improved over its dull first season.

In a joint statement, Marvel and Netflix say that they thank the fans who watched the two seasons and note that "as long as the Netflix series is over, the immortal Iron Fist will live". defenders The series aside, this is the first time that one of the Netflix Marvel shows is officially canceled and the statement suggests the possibility of new adventures for Colleen Wing and Danny Rand.

Deadline indicates that if it is not likely that the entire Marvel / Netflix shared universe will migrate to the upcoming Disney streaming platform, it is possible that Iron fist could make the jump over. The platform is currently developing new shows in the Marvel Universe on Loki and the Red Witch, as well as a forthcoming Star wars show, The mandalorian.

In an Instagram post, the star of the series, Finn Jones, thanked the fans for their support, and also hinted that it was not the end for the character, saying that "every end is a new departure".

In addition, Netflix has already locked additional seasons for the rest of the shared universe: DaredevilThe third season will start next week (and will probably be back for a fourth), Jessica Jones has already been renewed for a third season, The punisher gets a second season, and Luke Cage should get a third season soon.

Update October 13th at 16:10 ET: Updated to include Finn Jones' posting on Instagram.
