WARNING: There are mid-game spoilers for the Marvel Spider-Man. If you have not bought the game yet, and want to go completely cool, now is the time to go back and read something else (like our magazine without spoiler).
Marvel's Spider-Man contains an impressive list of bad guys (including three nasty surprises that we did not expect to see), but Insomniac Games could not suit everyone. There is a long list of villains and anti-heroes that we would have liked to see in the game, and one of these villains is Mysterio. Although we do not really meet Mysterio in the game, there is a really fun cinematic with a mini "boss fight" with someone disguised as Mysterio, and it's incredibly charming. Discover it in the video below:
We will not reveal everything that's going on in history at this point – you can find the main story spoilers elsewhere – but suffice it to say that Spider-Man has found himself navigating in a Halloween party in the heart of New York City while he's looking for someone else.
While Spider-Man questions the revelers in an attempt to locate someone, he meets a civilian dressed as the classic villain, Mysterio. After a brief exchange, the enthusiastic volunteer throws a store-bought smoke bomb and disappears into the mirror house, and Spider-Man continues.
When the two men meet face to face, a quick cinematic of "boss fight" ensues, for the greatest pleasure of all. It was such a cute and creative way to include an extra fight between the bosses so that fans could enjoy it, even if the stakes were not high or threatening for life. We do not know what kind of NERF or pistol that Mysterio uses to shoot Spider-Man, but we want it for ourselves. After a few incredible air escarpments, Spider-Man goes through the volunteer's mask and goes to work. It's one of our favorite exchanges in the game.
There are countless other Easter eggs and Marvel secrets hidden in Marvel's Spider-Man. We found Jessica Jones' office and this is not very impressive. We also found a hidden The four fantastics Easter egg that, even if you are looking for it, you have probably missed it. Remember the marriage application sentenced Easter egg that was discovered this weekend? Well, someone else found and used it, and they had very different results.
