DJ Durkin was fired by the University of Maryland just one day after the school’s board of regents announced his reinstatement.

Fallout from the death of Maryland lineman Jordan McNair continued Wednesday when the school fired two trainers who were involved when McNair was treated after suffering a fatal heatstroke during conditioning drills on May 29.
Head coach DJ Durkin was fired last week, a day after the Board of Regents reinstated him. The team’s strength coach, Rick Court, parted ways with the university in August. The school president, William Loh — who made the decision to fire Durkin — is retiring in June.
Robinson and Nordwall, previously not identified, had been on administrative leave since August.
A formal investigation into McNair’s death concluded that the trainers present when McNair became ill didn’t follow standard heatstroke protocol, which included taking his temperature and cold-water immersion.
According to the report, an hour passed before 911 was called. McNair, with his temperature reaching 106 degrees, never recovered and died June. 13.
Under interim coach Matt Canada, Maryland has posted a 5-4 record.
