Matt Groening New Netflix Series Gets Trailer – Variety

Netflix released the trailer for "Disenchantment", the upcoming animated series of creator of "Simpsons" Matt Groening, on Thursday.

The teaser opens on a photo of the moon and a narrator tells the future in "Futurama" before the camera falls into the clouds, similar to the opening sequence of "The Simpsons." " The narrator says that we have seen the present at Springfield, and now the only logical next step is to go back to the past. The camera reveals a medieval-style metropolis clearly inspired by King's Landing from "Game of Thrones".

"Welcome to the land of dreams," says the narrator as he cuts inside the throne room of a castle. A hooded character is led into the room flanked by two small creatures carrying burlap sacks on their heads and a guard clad in a style similar to modern detective blues. A king reprimands appearances of the figure with a voice made famous by the work of John Dimaggio as Bender on "Futurama."

"Look at this pile of scum that is not good, the chin is weak, teeth jagged," said the king, pointing to the cartoon that Groening has drawn since the series "Life in Hell"

He pulls up the hood to see a white-haired woman and shrieks with astonishment

"Hello dad," she told him.

"Disenchanting" premiere on August 17 on Netflix
