Max Scherzer he's tipped in the story books again on Tuesday night with another dominant performance against the Marlins to reach 300 strikeouts in one season for the first time in his career.
Scherzer won a 10-shot battle with Marlins fielder Austin Dean before he fanned out on a slider for the step sealing step stop. Scherzer has become the sixth pitcher since 1990 to record 300 strikeouts in a season, joining Curt Schilling, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale.

Schilling was the most recent right-hander to cross the threshold before Scherzer, beating 316 batters in 2002.
After completing the feat, Scherzer received a standing ovation from the crowd as well as the Canoe and the Nationals Enclosure. He leads the majors batting and his total set a new career record and a national record. But the achievement has also added to his career caliber Hall of Fame-already.
