Floyd Mayweather won the world titles in five different weight classes and is 50-0 in an unprecedented boxing career, but he could make an amazing detour in a modified rules bout after signing with the Japanese promoters. RIZIN Fighting Federation.

And the undefeated 41-year-old, who said last year that his boxing career was over after stopping Conor McGregor, the UFC superstar, said he could get by with the agreed format for the New Year's fight at Saitama.

His opponent is Japanese boxer Tenshin Nasukawa, 20 years old.

Mayweather never fought professionally under the rules of the MMA and did not specify the format of the battle. He added that negotiations with Nasukawa's representatives were ongoing and that his skills were not limited to boxing.

"I can fight, I can fight a little, I can fight a lot," Mayweather told Reuters.

"We're just going to see, I can do anything, I can do it if I decide."

Nasukawa is under contract with RIZIN and participates in their championships in MMA and pure kickboxing. He won his four MMA fights.

While the rules of boxing limit fights to the fists, MMA rules can include kicks, knees and elbows, as well as wrestling, joint locks and strangulation.

Mayweather was confident that they would reach an agreement that would suit both fighters.

"I'm pretty sure that when I talk to the guys on my team, we'll put ourselves on the same page so we can go and do what we need to do," he added.

Mayweather had announced in September that he was coming out of retirement for a new fight with Manny Pacquiao, after they were photographed speaking at a music festival in Japan.
