McConnell attacks the credibility of accuser Kavanaugh, Julie Swetnick

In a statement released Sunday, McConnell highlighted a lawsuit filed against Julie Swetnick 18 years ago by a company she briefly worked for at the time, namely WebTrends Corporation. The lawsuit was filed shortly after it was filed at the end of 2000, according to court documents.

A passage from CNN's complaint states: "Shortly after joining WebTrends, a colleague reported to WebTrends Human Resources that Swetnick had engaged in unwelcome and sexually offensive behavior. false allegations of retribution that other colleagues would have behaved inappropriately. "

The complaint also states that Swetnick provided false information on her application for employment, including the fact that she graduated from Johns Hopkins University, when the company stated that the university had no trace of his presence. She is also accused of falsely characterizing her previous work experience.

Swetnick is represented by attorney Michael Avenatti, who told CNN in a statement that the claim was "completely phony, that's why it was rejected almost immediately".

Avenatti stated that the defamation suit had been filed in retaliation for a complaint she had filed against the company. "They testified at that time, and they rejected it because it has no merit," he said.

In her statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee, Swetnick stated that Kavanaugh was present in a high school where she had been a victim of gang rape. She did not identify Kavanaugh as one of her attackers. During a series of holidays, she also saw Kavanaugh's "overexertion in excessive drinking and in inappropriate sexual contact with women in the early 1980s." ". Kavanaugh vehemently denied these accusations.

Swetnick also filed a sexual harassment complaint against a former employer, New York Life, ten years ago and was represented in the case by the current law firm of Christine Blasey Ford, said two sources at CNN. Swetnick was not represented by Ford's lawyer, Debra Katz, in this case.

Avenatti stated that there was "no coordination" between Katz and his client on the Swetnick charge against Kavanaugh.

On Sunday morning, nothing indicated that the FBI would talk to Swetnick.
