Conor McGregor coach John Kavanagh revealed that his star pupil received $ 5 million for a three-round show against a Chinese kickboxer.

"A few days ago, a guy sent me a message: a Chinese kickboxer [who] I wanted to do three rounds with Conor for $ 5 million, "Kavanagh said in a recent episode of The True Geordie Podcast.

"And he was going to put it aside. It was not like he was just [joking]. Because, again, I'm getting a million messages like this a day, but you're not paying attention. [to them]. But this guy was connected and it was a legitimate offer. But I know he would not do it [do it]. "

The announcement was made a few weeks after Floyd Mayweather announced that he was going to retire to face the Japanese sensation of kick-boxing Tenshin Nasukawa in a "special rules" fight at RIZIN 14.

In his last fight, McGregor failed to recover the UFC lightweight title when he went to Khabib Nurmagomedov in the fourth round of the UFC 229 main competition.

The Irishman has been openly lobbying for revenge since the defeat, which means he is likely to reject the offer. In addition, McGregor has five other bouts as part of his new contract with the UFC, although the promotion allows him to box Mayweather in August 2017.
