McKenzie Milton knee injured compared to USF

Central Florida quarterback McKenzie Milton was injured in the right knee in the second quarter of the Knights' game against South Florida on Friday.

Milton was fighting for a third inning and was getting hurt. He was transported off the ground with a jet of air on his right knee. ESPN did not show any recovery from the injury, but the camera shot right after Milton's injury showed that his knee was bent at an angle that was not very natural.

According to the ESPN broadcast, Milton was immediately taken to the hospital. Darriel Mack Jr. replaced him at quarterback. The Knights beat the USF 38-10.

Milton has been one of the country's top quarterbacks in the last two seasons, with the UCF winning 23 consecutive games. Milton became a star in the 13-0 UCF season in 2017 and is ranked eighth in the Heisman vote.

The Hawaii Junior started in 2016 and made a huge jump last season while the UCF declared itself National Champion after a win against Auburn in the Peach Bowl. He had 265 of 395 passes for 4,037 yards, 37 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also ran for 613 yards and eight scores.

In 2018, he had 166 points on 279 for 2,577 yards at the start of Friday's game with 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also racked up 291 yards and nine goals in the first 10 games of the season as the UCF started the season 10-0.

UCF plays Memphis in the AAC title game

Mack will likely be a quarterback in the AAFC championship game against Memphis next week. The Tigers advanced to the game with a win over Houston earlier in the day.

Memphis is the team that has offered UCF the biggest challenges of the past two seasons. The Tigers lost only 31 to 30 earlier this year and fell in double overtime against UCF in the AAC title game a year ago.

Without Milton playing QB for UCF, Memphis may have the best shot to end UCF's winning streak. And to do that, the Tigers will have to stop the race.

Mack only kicked the ball 14 times (five finals) after being replaced by Milton. UCF eventually ran the ball 58 times for almost 400 yards at an average of 6.7 yards per run. Running back Greg McCrae finished with 16 runs for 181 yards and three touchdowns.
