McKenzie Milton, UCF Knights HQ, hurts his leg

TAMPA, Fla. – UCF Quarterback McKenzie Milton appears to be seriously injured in the right leg during a second quarter fight against the USF on Friday, a a devastating blow for a team that has won 23 consecutive games.

Milton hid the ball and ran, and a crowd of USF supporters met him. He received a knee blow and his leg was twisted and bent at an uncomfortable angle. Milton stayed on the ground and the Raymond James stadium crowd watched in stunned silence as a cart was immediately brought to him.

The entire UCF bench was emptied and kneeled next to Milton while rescue personnel were working on him. The USF team also went on the field next to him to show his support.

Milton had his entire leg immobilized before being placed in the cart and taken to the locker room. His teammates approached him to pat his arm or shoulder.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, of Alabama Crimson Tide, who grew up with Milton in Hawaii, tweeted his thoughts to his friend.

"Prayer to my brother … back 10," reads the tweet.

Milton is the undisputed leader of an UCF team that is trying to finish its second consecutive regular season without defeat. At the start of the USF game, Milton was 2577 yards and 24 touchdowns in nine starts this season, while rushing for 291 yards and nine touchdowns.

Milton launched a touchdown pass in the first quarter to help give UCF a quick lead. Since the start of last season, Milton has been responsible for 79 total touchdowns, most FBS players of this period.

Darriel Mack replaced Milton at the quarterback. Mack started a game this season against East Carolina.

The Knights moved to 9th place in the playoff rankings for college football released Tuesday. It is the highest place of a group of 5 members in the history of the CFP.
