PETOSKEY, Mich. (WPBN / WGTU) – McLaren Northern Michigan is partnering with the Prevent Cancer Foundation to help ensure more people get lung cancer screening.
McLaren was one of 12 national programs to receive a $ 25,000 grant from the foundation.
This will help make lung cancer screening more affordable for high-risk patients.
This includes eliminating the $ 75 to pay for screening.
"Lung cancer is, by the time you catch it, if there are no symptoms, it can often be too late," said Lisa McGovern of the Prevent Cancer Foundation. "It is therefore essential to get to people quickly, to be done here in McLaren is doing so well, trying to reach people at a time when their results will be most favorable."
November is National Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
McLaren has a checklist on their website to find out if you need to be screened for lung cancer.
