LITCHFIELD PARK, Arizona (AP) – Maricopa County Sheriff's officials announced they were investigating a possible murder-suicide involving an 11-year-old boy at Litchfield Park.

They reported receiving a call Saturday night from a man who had said that his young grandson had shot his wife and then himself.

Doyle Hebert told the detectives that he and his wife had asked their grandson to clean his room and take care of himself throughout the day.

The couple then sat on their sofa in their living room to watch television.

The grandson approached them and shot a woman in the head, Yvonne Woodward, with a handgun belonging to Hebert.

According to Hébert, the boy then shot himself in the throat.

Hébert called 911.

Sheriff's officials say the incident remains under investigation.
