Akbar faces charges of sexual harassment and on Tuesday filed a defamation complaint against journalist Priya Ramani, who was the first to report to him.

At the same time, Akbar's attorney, Sandeep Kapur, of Karanjawala & Co's law firm, said that the private criminal defamation case was due to be heard Thursday (October 18th) in front of the new metropolitan magistrate Samar Vishal.

Kapur said that as this is a problem, the law will take its course.

"Since we have already filed the case for defamation, we will sue in court," he said.

Akbar filed a defamation suit against Ramani on Monday alleging that she "deliberately" and "maliciously" made accusations against her with the ultimate aim of tarnishing her reputation and political status.
