It's something that millions of us do each day, but when the Duchess of Sussex closed the door of her car on Tuesday, the Internet was watching and had something to say.
Arriving at the Royal Academy of Arts to attend her first solo event since she became royal, Meghan got out of her car after opening the door.
She then closed it again.
Some praised her "down-to-earth" and "humble" attitude, while others jokingly said that she could put someone out of work.
William Hanson, etiquette expert, pointed out that this was not a protocol violation.
"Usually, if you are a member of the royal family or a dignitary, you have a staff member to open and close a car door for you," he told Radio 1 Newsbeat.
He said it was for security reasons rather than "tunes and graces".
It seems that the person who opened the door went out to allow the Duchess of 37 years to welcome her host and close the door behind her.
"A princess who always takes the time to close her car door Bravo Meghan," tweeted the Royal correspondent of the Sun, Emily Andrews.
Of course, the observation of the main event – which was the opening of an exhibition of works from the Oceania region – quickly became a moment on Twitter.
The feminist and the former United Nations defender were trained for this type of behavior. Last week at the launch of a charity cookbook, the former actress of Suits again closed her own car door.
Earlier this month, an American journalist even claimed to have seen Meghan in a street in London cleaning himself after his dog. However, it was not verified that it was the duchess herself.
There are some rules, however, that Meghan will not break.
"Now that Meghan is a member of the royal family, there are no more selfies, no more autographs, she can not vote and all public social media must be removed," said William Hanson at Newsbeat.
