The Duke and Duchess of Sussex both stopped to cuddle furry friends during their walk in their first joint visit to their region of the same name, Sussex, about 50 miles south of London. Newlyweds are clearly in love with animals. They welcomed a new dog into their family at the end of August. A source also said the dog was joining them on their country getaway in the Cotswolds and Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London.

Before moving to London, Meghan had two lifejackets at her home in Toronto, one of which, a Beagle named Guy, moved with her to the other side of the pond. The other, Bogart, was good for friends.

The animal attraction of the couple was fully visible in July during their trip to Ireland.

During the second day of their royal tour, Meghan and Prince Harry met with President Michael Higgins and his wife Sabina at their official residence. The newlyweds were greeted by the Bernese mountain dogs of their hosts, Brod, a male, and Sioda, a female, during a walk in the gardens.

After visiting the residence, the dogs really showed how much they appreciated Meghan's company. When the foursome headed for the garden, Brod and Sioda rushed to Meghan and Harry to be petted and barked at the reporters along the way. The dogs stayed with them almost throughout the visit – they asked their visitors to attract him although they bid farewell.
