The Invictus Games ended Saturday with a speech by its founder, Prince Harry – and an unexpected speech by his new wife, Meghan Markle.
The couple spoke to the crowd in Sydney, Australia, thanking veterans and injured soldiers that the Paralympic style competition honors for its strength and sense of humor.
For the occasion, the 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex – known for her own classic touch – wore a custom olive-green tuxedo dress from Italian designer Antonio Berardi. She associated it with Casablanca fishing shoes from her renowned shoemaker, Aquazzura.
Meghan also wore fine jewelry, opting for large earrings and bracelets for black and gold pendants to play with the simplicity of her dress – a bold choice for a woman who generally prefers more minimalist accessories.

Meghan also revealed that she had close ties with the injured and convalescing soldiers and veterans participating in the games.

"Seeing Ryan's mother on the water that day, waving a flag to encourage it, was a moment that I will never forget," Meghan said.

Earlier in the day, to attend the wheelchair basketball final, Meghan wore a brown top from the Australian brand Scanlan Theodore and black pants, while Harry wore an Invictus Games black polo shirt.
The couple was greeted with roaring applause and sat down with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Defense Minister Christopher Pyne.
Later, the couple awarded gold medals to the United States team congratulating each player for his victory.
